International Aluminium Institute’s Marlen Bertram To Share Insights At Oman Aluminium Recycling Forum 2024

Marlen Bertram, the Director of Scenarios & Forecasts at the International Aluminium Institute (IAI), will give a keynote address at the inaugural Oman Aluminium Recycling Forum 2024. Hosted by IAI member Sohar Aluminium, this event will take place at the JW Marriott Hotel in Muscat on Wednesday, February 14th.

The Aluminium Recycling Forum 2024 serves as a vital platform for industry experts and stakeholders to exchange insights, analyse the current situation and eventually discover the best solutions to improve aluminium’s circularity in Oman. Curated by Sohar Aluminium, this gathering is expected to foster collaboration and ingenuity across the sector.

Ms Bertram will be speaking on “Exploring the Potential of Circularity in Aluminium,” a topic which will delve into the pivotal role of circularity within the aluminium industry. With emphasis on sustainable methodologies, the forum aims to drive advancements in aluminium recycling, steering the sector towards a greener future.

“We are privileged to welcome Marlen Bertram from the IAI as a distinguished speaker at the Aluminium Recycling Forum,” remarked the event organizers. “Her expertise on aluminium circularity will ignite insightful conversations and help catalyse progress within our industry.”

Commenting on her participation, Ms Bertram said, “It’s fantastic to see that in the traditional primary producing countries in the GCC, recycling and circularity are gaining momentum. Not only because recycling plays an important role for countries and companies to decarbonise and reduce energy consumption but also from a social responsibility perspective. The industry can’t increase recycling rates alone, and partnerships are crucial. Circularity can only be successful with increased partnership. The Oman Aluminium Recycling Forum organised by Sohar Aluminium is an important event because it brings together partners from the industry’s value chain.”

Ms Bertram’s participation underscores the IAI’s unwavering commitment to promoting the sustainable development of the aluminium industry. Her contributions are anticipated to enrich ongoing dialogues surrounding the adoption of circular practices for a more sustainable future.
